Self-help repossession is where someone sells you a car on an agreement that you'll pay for it a little at a time (say a used car for $500, with $100 down and $200 a month for the next 2 months) and then you fail to make the monthly payments.
After giving you notice and waiting an extra month, the seller might come and take the car back, and then have the matter settled in small claims court, if you object.
