Call the police, and report what they are doing. They are there to repossess a vehicle, they are not police or representatives of the court. Your grandmother did not steal the car, she simply hasn't lived up to her credit obligation... much different thing.

You can sue them for making false or misleading representations. People don't go to jail for being behind in their car payments and refusing to speak with a repo man.

I agree, call the police and file a harassment report on these people, the police will be very interested to know one of them is "claiming" to be a police officer. They can even tell you if they sent someone to your home, to let you know they are police officers. But this sounds like pure harassment to me, and make sure you call the finance company and let them know you're filing a complaint. They were told months ago where the car was and never went to retrieve it, so you're filing against them for threats, and harassment. IMHO is right "no one " can go to jail for falling behind on a car payment. Theses people are not just there to repo a car, they are actually "threatening" you, call the police and this will put an end to these people coming to your home. And make sure you tell the police "everything" they said, and when you call the finance company, write down everyone you talk to, from the receptionist to the person you tell about filing a harassment report against them.
