How can i stop a car repossession before repo man gets my car? I'm a cancer pt and got behind on my car note, however have still been paying each mth, still 1 1/2 pymts behind, repo man came to house yesterday, my daughter warned me, so i didn't come home - how can i stop the repossession? if he takes it, it will cost me way too much to get back. can i just pay the amt in arrears? if i see an atty today to hire for bankruptcy, will that prevent them from being able to take it and me still pay for it - please - what do i need to do? |

I understand that your chemo is costly but many bill collectors don't understand. Is there a way to call them and let them know why you are late. You are only a month and a half behind perhaps if you could pay your next payment of one and a half months. and continue to pay your payment plus half until you catch up.
After Hurricane Charley my car loan people gave me an extra month to catch up. So its possible to reason with them.

If you can't reason with them in regard to a medical condition, hide the car. Lock it in the garage if you can, and if they know where you work, take precautions there as well. If the repo guy can't legally access the vehicle, he can't take it.
