The best advice would be to have something in writing ready to show to anyone, such as a deputy, that may be sent out by the repossession company. This should cover you. Still, it would be best to have a lawyer file some papers on your behalf at the court, such as a sworn statement by you that arrangements have been made with the company to avoid repossession based on your agreement to pay under a certain schedule beginning on a specified date. If you had a conversation over the phone to this effect, you should make a written, signed, and dated "memorandum" of the phone call and agreement reached. Having it notarized by a notary public (usually for about $10) would add even more weight to the memorandum, in the event that the sheriff should send someone out to your home. To avoid worry, the best course of action would be to work out some agreement with the finance company.
